The Bikali College Book Club was formed in 2023 to encourage members to develop a habit of regular reading and helping to cultivate a love for literature and books. Its aim is to help create a vibrant, engaging environment where members can deepen their love for books, broaden their literary knowledge, and connect with others who share their passion for reading.
Objectives:
- Promote and protect reading culture during a time when technology and social media is taking over student lives
 - Improve members’ ability to comprehend complex texts, analyze themes, and think critically about literature.
 - Provide a platform for members to discuss and share their thoughts on books, encouraging diverse perspectives and interpretations.
 - Introduce members to a variety of genres, authors, and cultures, broadening their literary knowledge and appreciation.
 - Inspire members to express their thoughts in writing, whether through book reviews, essays, or creative writing.
 - Instill a lifelong love for reading and learning through ongoing engagement with books.
 
Activities:
- Holding book discussions
 - Arrange sessions focused on the life and works of a specific author, discussing their impact on literature and their most notable works.
 - Selecting books based on specific themes discussing them as a group.
 - Encouraging members to write and share reviews of the books and publish them in newsletter.
 - Inviting authors to speak about their work
 - Offering workshops that encourage members to engage in creative writing, inspired by the books they read.
 - Watching movie adaptations of books read by the club, followed by discussions comparing the book to the film.
