N.B. Membership of Vasundhara Nature Club is mandatory for all hostel inmates.
The Vasundhara Nature Club was instituted by Bikali College on World Environment Day (June 5) in the year 2006 with the vision of creating awareness among the students and staff on environmental conservation. Basundhara which translates to earth was chosen as the name so that the club can initiate activities to understand the endowments of Mother Earth on humans, its incredible assets, biodiversity and natural resources.
The Vasundhara Nature Club is the union of all nature lovers from various departments of the college to conduct different sustainable environmental activities in the society starting from the college campus to different sections of the larger society.
Objectives:
- To create awareness among students and staff on environment conservation and sustainable development.
- To create awareness on environment related issues.
- To undertake activities for the promotion of environmental and biodiversity conservation.
- Execute small scale environment related projects in the campus in collaboration with other departments, cells, units and industry.
- To ensure the establishment and maintenance of a Green Campus.
Activities:
- The Nature Club takes the lead in the commemoration of Earth Day (22 April) and Environment Day (5 June) in the campus.
- The Nature Club takes initiatives to maintain an eco-friendly campus.
- The Nature Club coordinates the Green Audit and Energy Audit.
- The Nature Club runs the Medicinal Plant Garden Project.
- The Nature Club conducts awareness and educational activities on recycling, waste management, vermiculture, plantation and cleanliness, carbon footprint, pollution, drive against firecrackers, plastic use, rain-water harvesting etc.
